Howling!
I hear the coyotes howling behind the house and it is a very scary sound! I only hope Trixie doesn't need to go out tonight cause I'll be forced to put her on a leash and take her out!
So glad I have power again; heat, telephone, computer, washer and dryer (ugh), dishwasher all the conveniences I take for granted!

A Walk in the Woods
I Love to walk in the woods when it snows, or in this case only ice, but pretty nevertheless. When I left the house the sky was grey and the pines were heavy...
The first lane I entered has these beautiful ice covered berries..
Then I decided to climb up in the deerstand in first photo and this view was awesome....
Trixie stayed one step ahead of me for the entire walk and she had to be cold, I was bundled up...
We headed home, saw another beautiful tree, filled up the bird feeders and are in for the night.

Here We Come!
About the Daffodil
The Daffodil is also known As Narcissus, Jonquil, Paperwhite, and the 'Poet's Flower'. The species name is Narcissus pseudonarcissus (pronounced "nar-sis-us sue-doe-nar-sis-us"). Every daffodil is a narcissus (plural is narcissi), but not all narcissi are daffodils. Narcissus is the botanical name for the genus.
The common name 'Daffodil' is generally used for single, trumpet-shaped flowers where the central cup of the flower is as long as or longer than the petals. Other varieties are known as Narcissus or Jonquils. Jonquil comes from the Spanish name for the flower
The name 'Narcissus' comes from Greek mythology. Echo, a nymph, fell in love with the vain Greek youth Narcissus. But he loved only himself and rejected her. She died of a broken heart. Later Narcissus saw his reflection in a pool of water and stood there admiring his beauty. The gods were angry with Narcissus and changed him into a flower which they named after him - the Narcissus flower.
Once mine bloom this almost always happens, as did last year:

View from the gym!
Have you ever tried to workout while looking at a Sale? And just imaging all the deals those women are walking out with! I mean that last person probably bought exactly what I would have loved, but now it's gone, my size, my color,,,,stop the treadmill I see an emergency across the street!
Got a nice set of cotton sateen sheets and pillow cases for $45.00. I hate paying so much for sheets, usually go to TJ Max, but don't think they could beat this price.
You have got to go enter to win some adorable Wm Sonoma pancake molds at Well,That's Just Fabulous blog.

Please Let Me Out
Chicken Enchiladas
Wow these were good! Was gonna show you the dish when I took it out of the oven but we were so hungry....these are what's left
I really recommend this recipe. Got it from a school cookbook I bought last week:
Chicken Enchiladas
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup taco sauce
1 cup sour cream
1 can chopped green chiles
1 pkg flour tortillas ( I used 5)
1 pkg chicken breasts, cooked and diced
2 cups shredded Cheddar-Jack cheese
3 T Butter
1 1/2 T flour
1 1/2 T chili powder
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
Mix soup, taco sauce, sour cream and green chiles together. (I had about half of this left) Spread part of the soup mixture evenly on each tortilla. Top with chicken and cheese in the middle of the tortilla and roll up. Place in a greased casserole dish ( I just put part of chicken broth mixture in dish) Combine the butter, flour, chili powder and chicken broth in a sauce pan. Cook until smooth. Pour over the enchiladas and top with cheddar-jack cheese. Bake at 350 deg for 30 min.
I wasn't sure about the chicken broth mixture but it gave a really good flavor that I like alot.
Ok off to watch Batchelor!

Honey Do's
There was just no excuse not to help me today/ha
Weather is beautiful, no wind, no rain in forecast. Started out with squeegee, didn't work, went back to good ole newspaper.
A job he does not enjoy! Sure is nice when it is done though.
Wonder if he would help me trim the shrubs? Better not ask too much in one day.
Have you ever been paid to cook breakfast? Husband has a friend who had guests from New York this weekend to duck hunt in Arkansas and wanted to know if he knew anyone who would come to his cabin(actually very pretty house) and cook breakfast for 8 men for $200, hello,,,,I volunteered. What fun, I could really get into that every weekend.

Cold, Cold Day
Beautiful sunrise to a very cold day. We had snow flurries this morning but it ended quickly and no freezing on roads,,,yeah!
Got a call this morning from Solar as she was going to sit by the pool. The trip to Santiago went well, they have a day to rest before next flight to Remota. Just broke in on TV about plane crash into Hudson River at New York, gave me chills to think about that. Sounds like pilot did an awesome job of landing in river and rescues were made in minutes. It is nice to hear reporters bragging on a good job for a change. There is so much good in the world, I just wish it would get reported instead of all BAD!
Got my chicken simmering and ready to add the dumplings! Have a good evening all.

I Tried!
Gosh these are all out of order. When I previewed the post I couldn't get it to go back and let me rearrange. Anyway the point I wanted to make was, these are really good mushrooms. Got the recipe from Barefoot Contessa, Sunday morning, couldn't get the link to work either, but you can go there if you want the recipe. I love the flavor of mushrooms but I have always sauteed in butter and worcestershire and kind of lost the flavor of the mushroom.
Sauteed Wild Mushrooms #2
I wasn't ready for that picture, guess I clicked wrong! Anyway they were delicious thanks to Barefoot Contessa for recipe.

Chargers!!!
This picture does not do justice to the mess I really have with my chargers. I put most of them in a drawer in the kitchen and then they get tangled up and impossible to separate. I mean I have a charger for almost everything I use,,,,,even my toothbrush!
Where do you keep yours? Do they get tangled up? I need help.
About the bad picture, I am working on that. I am studying (for the second time) a great book by Scott Kelby, The Digital Photography Book, that Solar gave me for Christmas 2007. This time I am taking notes and referring to my Canon Manual for more explanation, when he says things like set your shutter priority or shoot at your lens' sharpest aperture, hello I am a beginner.
I will conquer this camera!!!! I promise, stay tuned.
Off to watch season finale of Lipstick Jungle! My Favorite show! I only hope NBC brings it back again next year! Please!

Wish I was in Cancun
Last February my girls and I went to Cancun. We had so much fun. Spa was wonderful. Food was wonderful. Beach was wonderful, you get the idea.....
Cinnamon Twists
Oh Yeah! I highly recommend these! And I am not a fan of cinnamon rolls.
It is a foggy warm day and I am off to the video store to check out the "used" section. We have been watching the Clint Eastwood collection Carrie and Jared gave Ricky for Christmas and now we want more movies. I would rather buy than rent. I watched Beauty Shop again yesterday and laughed so much, Kevin Bacon is hilarious. Then watched The Longest Yard (I read blogs) again last night.
Have a good day all!
