In the south, or at least at my house September means one thing. Yes, fall is in the air, it is cool, it is damp and Squirrel Season is open! I know you are saying yuck, I would never eat squirrel but let me tell you folks, they are simply delicious!!!! Imagine if you can eating fried chicken with the flavor multiplied by 10!!! They are much smaller than chicken but every bite is just filled with flavor...
And nothing goes with squirrel like fried potatoes...
And everybody knows when you fry this much you are left with....a mess...grease...
The price you pay for a good September meal!!!

I actually had an Uncle Charlie that used to hunt and eat squirrel...hmmmm, I just don't think I could do it. Maybe I could come to dinner and eat it and then LATER...MUCH LATER you could tell me it was squirrel???

Oh, girl! I started a "boot camp" this morning and fried squirrel and potatoes are definitely not on the menu! But, that looks sooooo good. I am drooling! lol
LOL at all the responses...it looks delicious as is anything fried but I'll take the chicken version please.
Well, I gotta say, it looks good on YOUR plate! Not sure how it will look on mine. :)
Are you serious? Did you have to kill it and skin it yourself?
My dog likes to chase squirrels. I guess if she ever gets one I'll have to fry it up! ;0)
I just found your blog and I love it! You've got so many yummy recipes :)
