Two Favorites

I bought this tea on my shopping adventure at Central Market in Dallas and fell in love with the flavor.

Then I bought Simply Apple and warmed a cup for my tea bag and WOW, the flavor is so Fall/ha I love all of the flavors of Simply Juices, plus no sugar added!

My sis in law use to make the best hot cider tea for our family Christmas gatherings. She added all sorts of ingredients and brought them to a boil, and now I can have the same great flavor with one cup and one bag....oh the simple life!

While we are on the subject of tea; have you tried Paula Deen's recipe for sweet tea? I mean who needs a recipe for sweet tea??? Well I tried Paula's and it is just the most perfect tea (I do adjust the amount of sugar) Paula's:
7 tea bags
1 cup sugar
Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a kettle (or pan at my house) Add the tea bags and turn off the heat immediately. Place the lid on the pan and allow the tea to steep for 1 hour. Remove the tea bags and pour the tea into a pitcher. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. Add 4 cups cold water. Serve over ice with a sprig of mint and a lemon wedge.

I also love The Republic of Tea, Pomegranate Green Tea flavor; so I substitute one or 2 of this flavor with the 7 in Paula's recipe.....it turns out so good....just a mild pomegrante flavor.

Is there anything Paula cannot do??????

AND I started this post at 9:00 AM, then interruptions started....it is now 7:40 PM and I think I am ready to Publish this one/ha

Have a good evening all!

Tag

I was tagged by
Solar
on these 5 questions....I've had to think about it all day but I'll give it my best shot:

1. What you were doing 10 years ago?
After thinking all day I realized I had a new grandson 10 years ago and was just
overjoyed.
My daughter was about to move to Dallas, (6 hours from home) and although I was
very excited for her, I was apprehensive too!!!! I mean a mother has to worry,
right?
2. 5 things on my to do list:
my list is for the next couple of days and it includes:
Mow/mulch leaves in yard (but it is raining)
Take Trixie to get her annual shot
Mop the floors (yuck)
Clean out my closet (yuck)
Start Christmas Shopping (yeah)
All of these projects are pending due to road closings in Colorado therefore hunting trip is on hold!!

3. Snacks you enjoy:
Now that is a fun one.
Peanut butter crackers
Edy's Fruit bars (Lemon or Lime)
Never ending chips and salsa
And at night..........big bowl of cereal......

4. Places you have lived:
7 Cities in Arkansas
Manhattan, Kansas
Vicenza, Italy (Yes, Italy) for 6 months....would love to go back there

5. 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire:
Give my children and grandchildren millions
Give to many charities, Susan G. Koman, Autism Society, St. Judes Children's Hospital
Take my family on an extended vacation
Shop, of course
Travel!!!!

I tag my new friends,
Sunny
and
Tanna

Have a good evening all!

Tuna Grande!

For the upcoming hunting trip to Colorado, my husband and his friends chose me to make a large bowl of tuna!!! And I do mean large. Compared to my 5 oz. cans, this 66.5 oz can is going to take a lot of mayo and eggs/ha

My list of things I "want" to do while he is on his trip keeps growing and the weather forecast is rain all week!!! Darn! Guess I'll make a grande pot of chili and watch past episodes of Flash Forward! AND BLOG...

Have a good day all, I'd better start boiling eggs.........

Girls Reunion

So out of the blue this week a friend from high school, (and that's many years ago) called me. She said since we haven't had a reunion in years, five of my close friends are meeting in Little Rock Saturday, can you come? Of course wouldn't miss it for anything. What time I asked? 11:00 AM then we will go to lunch......but wait I said, the game comes on at 11:00!!! Arkansas and Ole Miss for those of you that are wondering what game.... We came to a unanimous decision to meet at a relatives condo and order lunch and watch the game. Haven't seen each other in 20/25 years and we have to watch the game....I'd say we have our priorities somewhat straight/ha
Anyway I am so excited to see my friends and catch up on children and grandchildren....I have my Lacey, Jackson and Lila pictures ready to go. I am scrambling for pictures of my daughters, I'm gonna have to do better in that department.

Have a good weekend all. I hope to get some good pictures to share with you.

GO HOGS!!!!! BEAT OLE MISS!!!

Germ Warfare

If you did not see The Early Show this morning, I want you to see this segment!!! It disturbed me!

Germ Warfare: The Laundry Room

Air Date: 10/22/09

Clip 4:14
In the series Germ Warfare, Susan Koeppen reports on a study of the amount of germs found in the washing machines of four different homes. Some results compare to the contamination of a dirty diaper.

http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_early_show/

This is the only clip of the series that is "X" out for some reason, so you will have to go to the site to view it. Please do!

Crock Pot Dressing

With Thanksgiving fastly approaching, it's time to start thinking about our menu. This dressing is so moist and tasty, I thought I would share it this week on Crock Pot Wednesday. Debbie is our sponsor and is also having a giveaway this week so hop over and join in. You can make your cornbread ahead of time and put all in the crock pot early in the morning, leaving the oven for turkey, pies, casseroles, etc

1 pan corn bread
8 slices day old bread (or whatever you have on hand, rolls, buns, biscuits)
4 eggs
1 med. onion - chopped
1/2 cup celery - chopped
1 1/2 T sage
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 cans chicken broth
2 T oleo (or butter) ha
2 cans cream of chicken soup

Crumble bread - add all other ingredients except butter. Pour into crock pot and dot with butter. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or low for 4 - 5 hours.

I am so hungry for dressing, I don't know if I can wait until Thanksgiving to have it.

Have a good evening all.

Central Market

The weeks just go by too fast lately. I had my daughter and granddaughter for a wonderful visit then I drove home with them to Dallas and stayed until Sunday. It is an emotional struggle when you want to be in two places. We had fun (as we always do) shopped a little, watched the heartbreaking Hog game, played with Lila and laughed alot! One thing I love to do in Dallas is go grocery shopping...crazy uh?
But until you grocery shop there you haven't truly shopped/ha. I've always said it is an experience. My favorite is:

The selection is unbelievable. For instance;

Ever heard of a Horned Melon or Budda Hand?

How about a baby pineapple? About the size of your fist.

Enough Cheese to feed a city...

They do a wonderful job of creating very eye catching displays. Next time I'll show you the meat section, Oh My!

Dallas is really a wonderful city and the climate is near perfect. Today it was near 80 and the grass stays green (but needs cutting) almost year round. My kind of weather. Look at their beautiful Saint Augustine grass in October mind you...

Relaxing in the shade.....my girls!

Going South!

I have so many hummingbirds in October....they seem to find my house on their journey south. I had 3 - 5 all year but when October comes I have a crew!!! I love to watch them fly around and try to protect the feeder from others. I have 3 feeders and try to keep them clean and full for these beautiful birds.

We had a great weekend, playing with Lila, watching the HOGS WIN!!!!! and cooking catfish.

Seven weeks old tomorrow.......

Perfect in every way!!!

Have a good evening!

One More Day!!

Guess who is coming for a visit??????

Her bed is ready. Her mobile is spinning, lullabies are playing, both in anticipation of the smiles to come. I had no idea the selection of mobiles..I had such a hard time making a decision. Finally chose one The First Years by Learning Curve. When Lila gets older, the mobile comes apart leaving the music box part attached to crib. Mobiles have sure come along way since the windup ones..... They now have a remote control and lights!!!!!

I can tell you this for sure.......Nanny is smiling! I doubt I'll sleep tonight!

I can't wait to have many new pictures to share with you....

Have a good evening all!

7 Can Soup

It just doesn't get any easier than this:
Brown one pound of ground beef, drain,
Add 3 cans Minestrone soup
1 can Rotel
1 can Tomatoes
2 cans Ranch Style Beans
Cook in crock pot all day on low (Makes the house smell wonderful)

Serve with a hot cornbread and butter and you've got a good bowl of comfort food. The rotel adds the perfect kick to the soup.

What's in your crock pot these cool fall days? Join in at Dining with Debbie.

Have a good Wednesday all!

Vitamin D

Everyone is concerned about H1N1 and all of the implications of the vaccine.
My friend Betsy has a very enlightening post concerning this issue. If you have not read it, please do!

I would like to share with you what my Dr. has advised me to do.
Three years in a row I was in his office the first week of November for what I thought was a case of hay fever or some sort of allergy. On the third year he noticed my pattern and advised me to take Vitamin D. His opinion is when outdoor activities decline and my hours of sun exposure decreases, so does my vitamin d level; making me less resistant to infections. He recommended me to take at least 3000 I.U. per day, starting in the fall. I did find some 1000 I.U. at Walgreen's, so I take one with each meal. He also gave me this site to read....vitamindcouncil and I urge each of you to browse this site. There is so much information here concerning H1N1, sunshine and your health, how to get enough vitamin d and it's roll in our immune system. There is also a link called Vitamin D Theory of Autism. Be sure and read the Newsletter of September 2009 - Special Report. The last comment on this newsletter reads; This is not rocket science. If I am wrong, and Vitamin D does not prevent influenza, what it lost? A few dollars.

We all want to stay healthy and if one small softgel with a meal will help, I am all for it.

Have a great day all!

It's Time for Chili

I found this great chili recipe through the wonderful world of blogging. I am so proud that I stumbled on to For the love of cooking! If you haven't visited her blog, you must! So many great recipes, soups, stews, etc. This chili is just bursting with so many flavors. It is not like traditional chili that all you taste is chili powder. I made this the day I found the recipe, I couldn't wait for the weather to cool off. Click here for recipe and tell Pam that Nanny sent you!!

Speaking of the weather....I actually had to turn the heat on for a few minutes (I hate heat) but it is so damp and cool that I had to warm the house up.

I am catching up on recorded programs today...watching Eastwick now....I like it. I love Lindsay Price and since I lost Lipstick Jungle, I'm glad she is on another show.

OK have a good rest of the day all and go make some chili/ha
