Leftover Ham!

I look forward to having lots of leftover ham.....only one thing to do with it....make beans...and I got a Cuisinart pot from my daughter for Christmas. I have wanted one of these for ages...what a great gift!

I let them simmer for 2 - 3 hours and they were just perfect. Can't beat cast iron cooking! I can't wait to make soup and chili in it!

And you cannot have ham and beans without.....fried potatoes and cornbread...
Did someone say something about diet??? Surely not! It's not time for that word yet, it's still 2009! We'll discuss that next week!

I also got this delicious smelling candle for Christmas. I don't think I will have to light it, it smells so good! If you ever see Swan Creek Candles and they have the Pumpkin Vanilla scent, you must have one...you just must!

Have a good evening all! I'm still in the movie mode, today I watched Because I Said So and now I'm off to watch Juno!

I agree about the dieting....not this week! :)

We went to my sister's house last week and had the same thing, ham and beans and cornbread! It was sooo good.

I love your new Cuisinart pot! Perfect for soups and chili!

Take care and Happy New Year!

That looks so good! We have leftover ham, and I think that's the best part of Christmas dinner! I'll be making some sort of soup soon.

Nanny! I am laughing as I have soup beans on too! I look forward to the hearty ham and beans after all the sweets!
Your new pot is not only functional but pretty too!

We had left over ham tonight too. I looked up recipes and ended up fixing jambalaya. The corn bread and potatoes look good.
Are the pototoes from PW's cookbook or an old favorite? I'm going to have to fix that for New Year's.

Is it rude to try and invite myself over to your house for a meal? Those beans look out of this world!

I wouldn't be surprised if Noni was just a wee-bit jealous of your ham leftovers to be used in the beans. She "sacrificed" her traditional foods for Pop Pop's spaghetti and meatballs this year. All so that (1.) she could spend more time with Little Man while Pop Pop cooked and (2.) so that she'll get her turn next year to make the traditional foods when Little Man can eat them. See how that worked in her favor? =) LOL

Love the dutch oven pot. Doesn't beautiful cookware make the cooking just a little more fun?
