Eye Catching

Yes, as I strolled the aisles of Wal Mart my eyes were drawn to this pretty green box.  Wow, everything I need to make a key lime pie in one box.....and into the buggy it went.

I always share tasty good products I find with you so in keeping things real I need to warn you about this pretty box!

As I was making the crust I imagined it would not set up and crumble to pieces when served.  Wrong!  I had to chisel a piece from the pan.  Moving on to the filling. There was a slight flavor of lime, nothing special but almost OK. (almost)  Now the topping......artificial tasting, white yucky cream with absolutely NO flavor. None.  One piece for me, one for Carrie and the rest down the disposal!

Don't be suckered into buying the pretty green box folks!

Anyone know how to make a heading smaller than mine....It's huge and I can't figure out how to make it smaller!  Help.

Hi Nanny!

Bummer that the mix turned out bad! I just made my first key lime pie the other day, and I recommend these recipes!

I used this first one for the crust...

and this second one for the filling...

If it's any indication, my company ate it all, so I think it was a winner! :)

Oh, I hate to be so disappointed with a treat like this! Key Lime is just one of my favorite summer treats... Edward's from the frozen section fills the emergency need quite well. LOL! blessings ~ tanna
ps you'll note there IS NO picture in my header... you can guess the reason. ;)

I absolutely love key lime pie. A couple of years ago when I went to North Carolina, my cousin made me two from scratch because she knew I loved them. It was her first time to make them and boy were they good. I even at a slice for breakfast. Yum! Best to stick with making things at home than buying a pretty box. :) Best wishes to you, Tammy (P.S. all my creations just keep piling up because right now, I don't have anyone around to give them, too. But once I start back to work, I'll be giving things away right and left, and maybe even donate some to charities that will be able to sell them at some of the bazaars that will pop up at the end of the year :) I just like making stuff.

Nanny, I won't have any problem avoiding this item... I just don't and won't shop at Walmart or Sam's Club. Just my opinion but I'm an old retailer and these operations are taking the fun out of retailing and their massive buying power is forcing other retailers to reduce selection in order to compete, especially grocery stores. I do love a good key lime pie though!

Good to know, Nanny --now I won't be tempted to buy this! Thanks!

I use boxed cake mixes along with canned frosting all the time, and am pleased with the results. Perhaps if you had added some real lime juice, that would have improved the flavor?
