I have been seeing this beautiful threesome almost daily. They are looking for green grass and water. Bless their hearts, it's hard to find this summer. They get closer and closer to the house during their search.
I also have a growing family of rabbits hopping around. I just love to watch them. Trixie does too, but she gives them a chase for their money. She can't get close to them....thank goodness! I've been throwing out lettuce leaves near the edge of the trees and they disappear quickly. I don't know which family decided to have these lilies for a meal but was I shocked when I saw this:

The flowers were long gone, but the stems were still green and pretty. Pretty appetizing, I imagine!
Another species looking for food really bothers me! Take a look at this:
What a difference 3 1/2 months makes around here. Take a look at this shot taken April 16th.
Do you see the tops of the tree/limbs barely out of the water?
Look at those trees now.
Sadly, we have had the pond this low before and miraculously we still had live catfish the next spring. I've heard they bury themselves in the mud to survive. Hence the name Mudcat!
Have a great Monday all!!

Very interesting photos. A blog friend of mine said she cannot grow any plants in her yard, because the deer eat them. Sad for her, but good for them.
Oh my word. Looking at those just makes me feel thirsty!
These pictures break my heart. I sure hope you get some rain soon!
I know... it is heartbreaking for the animals as well as the trees... RAIN!! You need some so badly. We are starting to really dry out here too... nothing like yours or last year, but I'm hoping for rain soon.
That poor little Mama deer, you know she is trying to take care of those babies! blessings ~ tanna
What a comparison. I do hope you will get some rain soon.
Oh Nanny...you are in much worse shape than we are here...we have drought and the farmers are taking a HUGE loss but things look a bit more green here than at your house! RAIN! BRING THE RAIN!
The drought is sooo sad!
Look at the reflection on the water, it's like glass!
All the animals looking for food is heart wrenching...
The poor things... Those deer are just too skinny... sorry about the flowers, too.
I didn't know that about catfish, either... we're not in that bad of shape & I'm terribly sorry... that's awful!
Can you believe that last episode of our show Wed?
I can't believe we have to wait until January for more... =0
love the deer photo...it is dry isnt it...
Ohhh what a shame about the lilies. They were so beautiful. That was almost as shocking as the pond. Wow! I sure hope you get some rain soon.
