Vitamin D

Everyone is concerned about H1N1 and all of the implications of the vaccine.
My friend Betsy has a very enlightening post concerning this issue. If you have not read it, please do!

I would like to share with you what my Dr. has advised me to do.
Three years in a row I was in his office the first week of November for what I thought was a case of hay fever or some sort of allergy. On the third year he noticed my pattern and advised me to take Vitamin D. His opinion is when outdoor activities decline and my hours of sun exposure decreases, so does my vitamin d level; making me less resistant to infections. He recommended me to take at least 3000 I.U. per day, starting in the fall. I did find some 1000 I.U. at Walgreen's, so I take one with each meal. He also gave me this site to read....vitamindcouncil and I urge each of you to browse this site. There is so much information here concerning H1N1, sunshine and your health, how to get enough vitamin d and it's roll in our immune system. There is also a link called Vitamin D Theory of Autism. Be sure and read the Newsletter of September 2009 - Special Report. The last comment on this newsletter reads; This is not rocket science. If I am wrong, and Vitamin D does not prevent influenza, what it lost? A few dollars.

We all want to stay healthy and if one small softgel with a meal will help, I am all for it.

Have a great day all!

Thank you, thank you! I think you dr. gave you "inside advice," it certainly won't hurt to increase the Vit. D. You hear so much about D and with so many people staying OUT of the sun and using sunscreen, many of us are low. Have you been watching the new Dr. Oz on Fox network? I tape it and then we watch it instead of primetime, very interesting! Thanks again for great advice...

Oh, this is great! I didn't know until recently how important Vit. D is to your immune system. I always only associated it with bones and calcium absorption. I'm going to check out this other site you have linked here...thanks, nanny....

I had mine tested this past spring and it was low. I should start taking it with my B12.
