Farmers Market

After seeing Paula and Bobby Deen frying squash this weekend, I couldn't get it off my mind.  I had to have fresh squash.  My taste buds would not rest until squash was given to them.  ha

Yesterday I went straight to Spring Park where the local farmers market is, in search of squash.  I was just in time and bought the last they had.  You see, the market is a small one.  I think it was larger earlier in the season, but is winding down.

The gentleman that I bought the squash from gave me double what I needed and added a basket of cherry tomatoes to my order. You don't get treatment like that from a store......These farmers have somehow kept there products alive through 100 degree weather with not much rain.... The squash was delicious!

Have you visited a market this summer?

I do miss visiting a farmer's market. We don't have such things around here. Not much of the produce is grown locally. Mostly flown in from other countries. I bet the squash was good! Have a great rest of the day. Tammy

I keep thinking that we need to visit our local farmers market --but haven't done it yet. Someone did give us some fresh cukes and corn-on-the-cob recently. YUM!!! AND --we got some delicious homegrown maters--so we're enjoying that also...

Looks like you got some great stuff at your Farmer's Market.
Hugs,
Betsy

Nanny, I want to be sitting at your table tonight!! Your buys look soooo good. I have to confess that I haven't made it to the farmer's market this year. Our local grocery store carries local farmer's veggies... so, it has become too convenient to just grab it there along with the rest. We enjoyed some really good okra last night! Enjoy your goodies! blessings ~ tanna

Thanks for your visit. I love the farmers markets too, they just started them here, there is nothing like fresh from a garden! :D
(We are moving to St. George,Utah and we want to serve in the temple there and go on some missions too, that is why we are selling.) :D

Now I'm wanting squash casserole . . . which we enjoyed before the extreme heat ended our garden! We have a beautiful farmers market not too far from here (northwest Louisiana), but we haven't gone this year.

That squash casserole sounds so good! I'm lucky that I have a farmer's market only 2 blocks away, that sells produce, 3 days a week. I live there! :)

I was at a market last weekend. I love going and ours is small but still has free range/organic meat and poultry products.

Yes, I have! My problem is I tend to buy too much for just me...have to tone it down some. :-)
