Sunrise, Sunset

In the evening as the sun is setting, the trees seem to just glow.
Last night I picked up the camera, Trixie and I went out to enjoy the moment.

We got there just in time to see a beautiful landing.

It's hard to grab the camera, focus and capture their landing.  They are faster than me!

We sat and enjoyed watching the geese swim around honking, telling each other that they were not alone.

May your sunsets be golden and warm.

Need More Frozen Veggies!

Yesterday morning, bright and early it was back to the Surgery Center.  Same Dr., same procedure, but this time it was my husband....not me.  I am the caregiver this week.  I say that as if he will agree to a week off. HA
He's talking about going to work tomorrow!  What's a girl to do?  I can't tie him up.  He is in some pain and thinks the Dr. didn't fix the problem....men!  I have realized that self employed people don't like to take off from their job.  He thinks it will all come crashing down if he gets behind.  I am fortunate to have a husband that loves his job and is very dedicated  but he needs to put his health and recovery  First!

I think I need to restock the frozen peas and carrots......

Celery

I'll bet most of you are just like me......cut the top part off to eat and throw the rest away.
No More! Not since I found this wonderful tip on Pinterest!

Slice the bottom off

Place in a saucer of warm water, overnight.

Then plant!!! Yes, that is all there is to it.  Then wait for your own homegrown celery!

Tomorrow I plant!!!

Orange Tree

One more from the yard:

I have had this orange tree for 5 or 6 years.  It has only bloomed and made fruit one time.
It is now covered in blooms.  I feel that the mild winter must have contributed to the blooms.I'm sure it should be pruned, maybe moved to another location, but I hate to risk it.  It is on the south side of the house, protected from any north winds.

The rewards are twofold from the orange tree.  First is the wonderful scent.  It makes the yard smell so sweet.  The second is the sweet fruit.  I think it must be either mandarin or tangerine.....they were so sweet and delicious it makes my mouth water in anticipation.

If every bloom makes an orange I'm going to an ample supply of Vitamin C.....

March - You Were Perfect

Let me start by saying that I can't remember ever having a more beautiful March than we just had.  The weather was near perfect. Warm sunny days and cool nights.  The grass turned green....yeah, I get to mow....the azaleas burst forth with big lovely blooms....and the roses added more beauty to my yard.

Each morning I was drawn outdoors by the sun shining through the japanese maple just outside my window

I couldn't fight it, I went out every morning and was amazed at the beauty of this tree.

The leaves are green first with the prettiest red blooms beneath each one then turn to the deepest maroon color. For days the trees has all three on it making it just sparkle in the sunlight.

It has been easy to let an hour or more slip by without even knowing it

This azaleas seemed to compete with the maple for attention.  The sun was shining on it like a spotlight. "Look at me, look at me".

I also planted my first garden this month.  My husband made me a small raised bed garden.  I planted tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, asparagus, cucumbers and squash. (not enough room for okra....next year we will enlarge/ha)

I know you can't tell much about this picture but I plan to show you the progress weekly.  (hope it's not just weeds)

We even had the pool opened up in March....wow....never opened it before May.  It has been an unusual spring but I have enjoyed every minute of it.  Well except for the pollen that continues to cover the area!!

I can't conclude my March post without telling you of the fun I had while staying with Lila while her mom and dad took a weekend trip to Dallas.  They enjoyed their trip but I'm guessing not anymore than Nanny did.  My girl and I shopped, went for long walks, ate watermelon, popsicles and spaghetti.  Look at my little partner:

Is that not precious?  She doesn't like the sun in her eyes and always has her sunglasses handy/ha. (except when we loose them)

After all of the walks and shopping, she relaxed in her chair and enjoyed a few cartoons.....

Well that sums up my March.  It was filled with fun and sun.  How was yours?
I stayed in this afternoon to catch up with some much neglected cleaning and blogging.  It's 90 degrees and windy.....I don't like wind!!

See you soon, I promise!!
