Let me start by saying that I can't remember ever having a more beautiful March than we just had. The weather was near perfect. Warm sunny days and cool nights. The grass turned green....yeah, I get to mow....the azaleas burst forth with big lovely blooms....and the roses added more beauty to my yard.
Each morning I was drawn outdoors by the sun shining through the japanese maple just outside my window
I couldn't fight it, I went out every morning and was amazed at the beauty of this tree.
The leaves are green first with the prettiest red blooms beneath each one then turn to the deepest maroon color. For days the trees has all three on it making it just sparkle in the sunlight.
It has been easy to let an hour or more slip by without even knowing it
This azaleas seemed to compete with the maple for attention. The sun was shining on it like a spotlight. "Look at me, look at me".
I also planted my first garden this month. My husband made me a small raised bed garden. I planted tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, asparagus, cucumbers and squash. (not enough room for okra....next year we will enlarge/ha)
I know you can't tell much about this picture but I plan to show you the progress weekly. (hope it's not just weeds)
We even had the pool opened up in March....wow....never opened it before May. It has been an unusual spring but I have enjoyed every minute of it. Well except for the pollen that continues to cover the area!!
I can't conclude my March post without telling you of the fun I had while staying with Lila while her mom and dad took a weekend trip to Dallas. They enjoyed their trip but I'm guessing not anymore than Nanny did. My girl and I shopped, went for long walks, ate watermelon, popsicles and spaghetti. Look at my little partner:
Is that not precious? She doesn't like the sun in her eyes and always has her sunglasses handy/ha. (except when we loose them)
After all of the walks and shopping, she relaxed in her chair and enjoyed a few cartoons.....
Well that sums up my March. It was filled with fun and sun. How was yours?
I stayed in this afternoon to catch up with some much neglected cleaning and blogging. It's 90 degrees and windy.....I don't like wind!!
See you soon, I promise!!

It was a beautiful month here too but my husband just commented that normally we don't turn the air conditioning on before June 1 and it looks like we might need it this week. :( blessings, marlene
I sure would love a Japanese Maple in my yard, JapMap is what I call them! LoL! =)
She IS adorable, absolutely!
March was niiice, indeed, but April isn't starting out to my liking... too hot... it's 86 & I don't like it at all! We've gone from fall to a little bit of cold weather to too little nice Spring weather & straight to summer! I was sooo afraid this would happen... it's going to be a miserably LOOOOONG HOT summer!
I prefer weather where I can keep my windows open & save on electric bills, but that isn't gonna be the case this year! =0
You brought forth the best of March! Ours wasn't that perfect but it was very nice. Today it's sunny and a pefect day, yet not warm enough to swim in MN. :)
Lila is adorable!
I'm impressed with your gardening! Hope you have lots of yummy veggies.
And your granddaughter is adorable, especially with her shades :)
Lila grows up in Nanny's Good Life.
It was perfect.
It was a beautiful month here as well. I will be opening our pool this week. A record for sure!
It's great to hear from you. I was beginning to wonder where you were. I thought maybe you might be keeping some grandchildren. Lila is adorable. I love those bows in her hair!!!!
Our March has been wonderful also. I just hope that April is as nice to us as March was.
Beautiful photos...
How are you feeling? Knee???
Hugs,
Betsy
yes, how is your knee? Hawaii is nice all year, not just March. ha.
Oh. my. gosh!! Lila looks so grown-y in her sun glasses. Funny, Alex does not like the sun in his eyes either and wears his sunglasses when he goes out! She is just too precious for words, Nanny. I know you just ate up your time with her! xoxo t.
Great pictures, and I agree, it has been a wonderful month! Can't wait to see how the garden keeps coming.
Blog land seems incomplete to me when you're gone for long stretches at a time! So glad that you're back...and that you spent your month enjoying the beauty of the season.
Love your pics of Lila. She is an absolute doll. Looks like some good quality girl-time to me! Looking forward to more posts. =)
What a great month Nanny! We enjoyed an amazing month weather-wise too although NOT 90 degrees. We have had some low 70's that have been FANTASTIC!
Lila is growing SO FAST! Glad you two gals could spend some quality time together!
Wonderful pictures on this blog....the header is really fantastic.
Greetings, Joop
