Flies!!!

I made a mess!! Yes, I made a big mess, but I got the job done!!!
Somewhere in our house there is a hole/crack that the flies have found and are obviously breeding. The warm weather brought them out and my windows in the den were just covered this week.. I couldn't stand it, couldn't get up there with fly swat to wage a little attack, didn't have any fly spray BUT I found this spray in the cabinet and proceeded to spray (guess I should say jet spray) the windows.

Not a pretty sight!!! Yes it dried just as you see it now!!!
There are still a couple of stragglers flying around but I have swept and vacuumed many! Now I need the extension ladder and my husband to clean the windows...hope that stuff comes off!

I searched this morning for the recipe for vinegar and water to clean the windows. I have tried before with no luck,,,still have streaks and found this great site,
Tried this recipe on the lower windows that I can reach and it did a wonderful job, no streaks at all. The secret is 1/2 tsp. liquid soap in the mixture!!!
Clean as a whistle!!! Now if I could just find that hole...

Have a great Saturday all!

My babysitter hangs a baggy of water outside her door to keep the flies away. I don't know if it really works or not. We have ants! I wiped the cabinets and floor with vinegar to see if that would help.

I have heard that bag of water really works, but I think mine are in the house....not flying in. Get that sweet stuff for your ants, it is hard to watch them pile up on it but they leave and die. It works!

I'd deal with the flies if I could have that view! Such a pretty view from that window.

Glad you were able to get the problem solved...and the windows cleaned!

I have perfect confidence that you will track down that hole/crack and put an end to the procreation of the flies! LOL! Talking about a woman on a mission! Nanny, the view is perfect! And, thank you for the window wash recipe. I need to get after that myself. Have a restful Sunday after all your fly battles!

We were bothered every Spring and Fall. No matter it seemed those nasty what we called bottle flies would come in to the living room window especially, the window could be empty and next time you look like 15 were there. We could never find a hole. I noticed certain times it was worse then other times. Especially if I was cooking sauerkraut or something strong. Finally I moved my trash can in the garage away from the wall that was the same wall the living room and kitchen shared. Then I sprayed heavy along the baseboard in the garage. Every couple of days I would spray it again, we would see dead flies in the garage, but no more were in the house. Apparently that's how ours were coming in, even though we never saw that many in the garage, because we keep our garage door down through the summer, we do keep a back door to the garage open, but there is a screen to that door, so I also sprayed the screen heavy, since we don't go in and out that door, only use it to take the lawn mower in and out. So I think I found the solution to our problem. Spray around the window outside, and then spray a few cotton balls and lay in the window where kids or animals can't get to them. Hope you get the problem solved, because if you're like me, I'm not happy till every fly is gone or DEAD!
