Faint!!!!!!

This envelope always holds a shock within....but none as shocking as this month....

Let me enlarge it....just in case you don't believe it!!!

YES, it went from $406.32 TO $861.90 in ONE month!
  • It has been very cold this month
  • The heat pump has run nonstop
  • I keep the thermostat on 66 degrees, I promise, ask anyone
  • On rare occasion I turn it up to 67 degrees!
  • It was cold LAST MONTH, too!
  • My husband says I freeze him to death!

I have a question why does FERC impose a 25% payment? UH? $203.64..........

This bill made my husband rethink the thermostat setting and he immediately set it himself!

Don't know if you have seen the new commercial called "The Tighten Up" but that is what we are participating in! Yesterday we relied on the great sunshine through the windows and the gas logs....I was happy!!! I hate heat!

One more tidbit of info to share....my husband sells and installs HVAC systems....to quote him "heat pumps can't keep up when the weather falls below 45 degrees". People call him daily when their electric bill goes up...Boy will he have a response for them now!!!

Did your bill double? I would love to know! I hope it didn't!

Have a good day and stay warm....or just put on a coat(that might be cheaper)!!!!!!

Holy Moly! If I got a eight hundred dollar utility bill, I wouldn't faint...I'd die of a heart attack!
We have had increases in our utility bills but not anywhere as high as yours.
Keep warm.

We heat with gas, thank goodness, I can't imagine having to rely on electric to heat the house. Our last gas bill was $129.32, from Dec.3rd to Jan.3rd. He'll be around to read it this wed., I'm sure it's going to be more. Our electric bill I just paid was $121.22.Our house is rather small, 1,816 sq feet. Perhaps you have a large house? Our thermostat is set to go down at 11pm to 68 and come back up at 6am to 70. The coldest room in the house is the family room. I certainly don't envy your fuel bill.

Our bill is high every winter/summer but not quite as high as your last one. Our highest was close to $700 and I literally cried. We're like you, we keep the thermostat low yet the bills remain high. It's terribly frustrating! I thought it was just CA with the outrageous utility bills!

I can completely relate...ours was $250 higher than we expected it to be. Ugh.

Does anyone know CPR??? Mercy me, Nanny, that is frightening! Our heat is gas and I went to a monthly averaging plan last year. So, I was thankful to receive our average monthly bill for this cold spell. I'm sure it will bring the average up, but no heart attacks this time! Bless you, girl!

GASP! Oh my goodness! That's CRAZY!

I thought our gas bill was going to be around $600 this month, but I was doing cartwheels when we came in at $450 which is double from last month. I'm always glad when spring rolls around. Old Mirabelle leaks warm air everywhere, and summers are much more economical for us.

Hope you get LOTS of sunshine for next month.

OY!!!! This cold weather is going to squeeze the life outta us! Our bill was ALOT higher than we had hoped...we cringed and peaked with reluctance as we ripped open the envelope!!

It is TIME for spring!!!!

Ours has never been as high as yours but pretty darn close. I love your Blog. I am just getting started in this world of Blogging but am having so much fun I cant seem to get anything else done.

G'morn, no our bill is nearly the same as last years, this is our heat pump of 15+ years. Even our gas bill came down a wee bit.

Loved the country drive.

YIKES!!! I live in Arkansas & a year ago we lived in a large house...in January our bill went from about $160 to $430. I about went through the roof especially since we were saying the same thing...We thought we had been keeping the temp on the cold side all month. We decided to move into a smaller apartment for a couple of years since we were saving for land to build a house on. We are so happy we made that choice. We have that FERC also, it is the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission tariff. Maybe it will go away soon. Years ago we had a heat pump & in the winter it would ice over and freeze up AND it stayed cold in the house all winter. Never Again! Good news...only 6 more weeks of winter!!! That's what "Punxsutawney Phil" said today. Good Luck

Maybe there was a good reason for the 'family bed' where everyone bundled up together... It was to keep warm!
Stay bundled up:-)
