Butter

Butter is butter, right?

Not necessarily!! While trying to avoid the crowd at Wal Mart, I ran in Kroger to get butter for a pecan pie. Nice, it's much less expensive than Land o Lakes......I found out there is a reason for that savings.....something is missing!

It took me several hours to figure out why the pie had a different texture and less flavor. Then the light bulb came on (I'm kinda slow) The Butter.
Sorry Kroger, I had to dispose of the remainder and hurry to replenish my supply.

As Paula says, Never Ever Let The Butter Get Too Far Away From You!

Have a good day all! If the forecast doesn't change, we are going to have a wonderful weekend in Arkansas....68....yes 68 on Sunday! Outdoors, here I come!

"They" try to sell us on their store brands, claiming the best quality all the way.

I have just given up on store brands. You save a little money but your product isn't as good. If you are spending time on a recipe you want quality everytime.

When will they learn:??

What happened? Only salt and no butter?!

Every now and then a store brand is OK.
So, should we think that about generic meds. ?

I am absolutely with you on Land o' Lakes butter... accept NO substitute!! Gotta have my butter!

Oh, Nanny it has been a beautiful day here. The breeze is still cool... but, the sun is shining and there was golf to be played!! Enjoy your weekend!

I made that mistake once. Never again. Land 'O Lakes ROCKS!!

One other funny butter story...when Jerry and I got married he kept calling margarine "butter." Um, sorry, no. Margarine is NOT butter. I've since converted him. =)

We are having temps up to 59 this weekend. WOOHOO! It's no 68, but at least it's better than the low 40s we've been having all week. Enjoy the outdoors!

That works for anything you make. The last time I made this chocolate pudding dessert, my Mother commented on how good it was. I told her I used jello pudding, she said she bought the store brand, I used Philadelphia cream cheese, she bought the low fat kind, I used Cool Whip, she bought the store brand, she said apparently that all made a difference. I told her yes, on somethings it does. Sometimes for the few pennies you save, it's just not worth it. Especially if no ones eats it. LOL Happy week-end.

I'm with Patty, brand name only. C'mon Nanny, you taught me better than that...I can't believe you bought store brand butter!!!!

P.S. What kind of pie?

I'm a Land o' Lakes butter girl too! I agree, it's the best to cook with.

I had a weak moment and Kroger didn't have Land O Lakes....can you believe that? I hate it that stores are forcing their brands on you...but I won't fall for it again......

I try to buy a butter made locally because of the taste and the butterfat. I know exactly what you mean.
