Danielle Steel

I have been a Danielle Steel fan for many, many years! Thirty One years to be exact! I know that because that is the year The Promise came out. I loved that book so much! She had 3 previous novels and I immediately bought them too. After reading those 3, I wrote Danielle Steel a letter.....yes I did, I told her I could not imagine being without one on her novels to read.....she wrote me back...I was shocked the day I got a handwritten, hand addressed letter from Danielle Steel! This wonderful author of four books wrote me a letter. She said that she too, hoped I would never be without one of her books to read. I kept up with her for years but eventually I got behind....I continued to buy her novels and someday when I don't have anything to do, I'm going to read everyone of them and reread my favorites! I remember breaking down in tears when I started the last chapter of The Ring! It was go good, I didn't want to finish it!

Last week I saw Danielle on The View and became intrigued by the plot of her newest novel...Big Girl. She explores the issues of weight, self-image, sisterhood, and family. I am 80 pages into this one....love the characters and the story but here is my problem: I don't like books written in the 3rd person.....I like one on one dialogue! Does this bother you or do you even notice the difference? I don't want a narrator telling the story! It drives me crazy! I am trying not to notice and hope that the entire book is not written this way......

What are you reading? Some of the best books I have read were ones recommended by my fellow bloggers....

Have a good evening all...do you like American Idol this season? Some of my favorites have already been eliminated...oh well!

She has so many books know...can't believe you wrote her when she only had four.

I am reading the latest by Jodi Picoult..."House Rules'. I read all her books and got this new one for my BD.
I also love Elizabeth Berg. I forget the name of the newest...but It is good. She answered an email I sent her (o: Makes you feel good.

Authors have to choose some point of view, and changes are there will be readers who will wish that the third person (or first person) had (or had not) been chosen. Can't please everyone all the time, I guess. Personally, I agree. The first person tends to draw you further into the dialogue/action.

Grammy, I have that one on my list to buy! I love Jodi too! I have read one of Elizabeth's books, The Year of Pleasures!

Hi Arkansas, My post tomorrow is another from our trip to Arkansas in Feb... This one is from Petit Jean.

I love Danielle Steel... I'm anxious to read the new book --and hope that I won't be upset about the '3rd person' way that it is written.

Hugs,
Betsy

I used to read Danielle Steele ALL THE TIME...but have NOT in years and years!

I have to read a great deal for my work and find when I DO have time for pleasurable reading I would rather VEGGIE OUT! I do love a wonderful, mindless volume of pure mind candy! NOTHING educational, nothing research...just a simple and wonderful story.

The Promise was the first Danielle Steel book I ever read. Loved it! I haven't liked all her books as much in recent years. I just finished One Day at a Time, it was good, but too much repeating in it. I still read her tho and most books I love. Now I'm reading The Healer by Sharon Sala.
