Bird's Nest Egg
Egg Hole
Bird's Nest egg-in-a-hole
The name is not important....the flavor is!!! I love the outer edges of the yolk to be barely set, with the center runny. Lots of salt and pepper....I can't believe I haven't been eating these all of my life. Why didn't someone tell me what I was missing? Sometimes the simplest things taste the best. Do you have any breakfast secrets to share? I'm all for new experiences, especially when my taste buds are involved......

I've never had one of these. Do you just butter the bread and cook the egg inside? It sounds delish!
where are the instructions?
OK
not that hard to figure out I guess (o:
Sorry, should have put instructions...
Cut hole in bread
Melt butter in skillet
place bread in skillet and allow to soak up butter
add egg
turn when browned (like making grilled cheese)
I would love your breakfast, Nanny... I love sopping up the yellow with a piece of toast.... YUM!!!!!
We have cereal/banana/strawberries most every morning. The difference is that we mix several kinds of cereals in huge containers. I eat grape nuts/all-bran/cheereos/wheat chex/Smart Start, etc. George eats more of the granola-types. BUT---whatever we mix, they are really really good. AND --now that fresh Strawberries are in, they are great on the cereal also. That's our BIG breakfast!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I really have to try one of these! Yummy!
Sunny :)
This was the FIRST thing I made when my copy of the PW's cookbook hit my doorstep. LOVE IT! As did the out of town guest I had that weekend. YUM!!
This looks interesting! Unfortunately, I'm afraid I wouldn't like it. I don't like runny yokes. In fact, I'm not a big egg eater.
Looks yummy!! Glad you are back blogging, but I know you are missing your girls. Back to the grind! And, the fun things at home!! Hugs to you.
I just made this for my two grandchildren ages 2 and 3 . We called it Toad in a Hole! It was so fun and yummy.

It looks good and sounds like it would be easy to make. It would probably turn out like your picture if you'd just come on over to my house and make it :)
Very very veryyyyyyy delicious!
Have a happy day. xoxoxo
I haven't made this in way too long! Tomorrow morning...I'm all over it! ;D
I love these too! This was a favorite Sunday night meal at our house growing up. My Dad always made them. Here is a new name to the list...we call them GAS HOUSE EGGS.
yum, that looks so good. i might have to put the leftover sourdough to use!
Mom said she commented on here, but it didn't appear. HA! She made them the very next day.
