Late at night while you're sleeping....poison ivy comes creeping.....
Do any of you remember this song? Since I saw this dangerous vine I have been singing Poison Ivy.
I can't believe I walked right by this tree. I trembled when I saw it. I have become so allergic to ivy in the last few years. I use to run to the Dr. and get a shot but my present Dr. doesn't like to give steroid shots....too many side effects! He says use this cream, blah, blah, blah.
Anyway to make a long story short, I was talking to an old friend one day and she said, "girl all you need is vitamin e hairspray to cure your outbreak". Needless to say I headed straight for the beauty supply store to purchase this spray. Guess what? It worked. Just spray the area, it dries and leaves a film on your skin....I sprayed mine often.... Talk about an inexpensive cure!
That tree is not in my yard......or it would be soaked in roundup by now!!!
Have a good day all and beware of the ivy!!

oh wow will look for that hairspray...someone around here is always getting into it...we usually use rubbing alchol and it works better than going to the Dr.....
Nice to know that, Nanny... Thanks!!! We do have poison ivy up here in the empty lots...I got into some (or some poison oak) a few years ago... It was a MESS... I didn't know about that hairspray back then. Wonder if it works for other bug bites?
Hugs,
Betsy
Yep! I know the song .. and now I'm afraid I'll go to bed with it twirling through my head. :/ I have never seen or been attacked by poison ivy. I can't imagine being that allergic to something. Hairspray is also great for getting out ink stains -- but you need the pump kind, not the aerosol. :) I'm off to bed. Goodnite! Tammy
That's a great piece of information to learn today, Nanny! Glad you got the poison ivy under control. It can be a booger when you are really allergic to it!!
I loved you dream! Maybe one of these days....
Taylor gets it awful. So you use the hairspray after you get it or to prevent it?
A good tip I may have to try this summer. It spreads all over me in no time. Hate the stuff.
This is a good tip! I don't see poison Ivy often soI'm sure I'd get a bad case if I went walking where it was growing as I wpouldn't know enought to avoid it!
Don't have any clue what song you are singing and I hope I don't become allergic to poison ivy but glad to know what works!
thanks for the great tip! hope I don't need it :-)

I've not heard that song either and that hair spray looks like it is from the 70s.
I probably should knock on wood because I have never come in contact with poison ivy. My husband isn't allergic but this is good to know.
So glad you liked the hamburger steaks and gravy!
Are you serious? OMG! I'm not allergic, but that's good to know, especially w/ my nephew on his way to running around the farm... Thank you very much, Nanny! =)
We have very little poison ivy around here....not even sure if there is any. I have heard stories about how bad it is though. Sorry...but good find. Do you think that would work for other itches...like even a mosquito bite???
AAAAAAAHHH! I am allergic too! FREAKS ME OUT! Now, why did I NOT know about this hairspray remedy! OH! I am SO BUYING that tomorrow!
Great suggestion ~ thanks so much! I'm going to share with my son for the grands. I know Dr's don't like to give the steroid shots unless it's critical...very damaging to one's organs.
This is a wonderful solution.

I've never heard this tip but you can bet I'm going to remember it! blessings, marlene
I had to pop in and say I BOUGHT THIS NANNY! I got into ivy working in the yard and I am ARMED now with this spray! Thanks for the tip!
Yikes! I too have awful rashes with poison ivy or poison oak. I think it finds me! This remedy is very unusual but if it works-great idea! Will have to try it if I get poison ivy again.
