How many of you have your sauce as I do? Straight from the can....well I like it. Whole bean or jellied? I vote jellied!
Grocery list is made and categorized, meats, veggies, cans...well it's long and I don't want to forget anything. I'm betting tomorrow is a very busy day for grocery shopping. I'm gonna go early and try to beat the crowd. What's your plan?

Skywatch Friday

And it is a beautiful beginning!

I had another wonderful visit in Dallas this week. Solar, Lila and I went Christmas shopping and Lila was an angel. She loved being on the go and slept thru most of it and just enjoyed the rest.

We made our annual quest to Sam Moon Trading Co. That is putting it mildly. We were after purses this time and if you haven't been there, let me explain. There are rows, and rows, and rows of purses. Sometimes it is just too overwhelming, to make a decision.

This time I didn't have any trouble deciding...when I see green, no problem;

And the part I really liked..

Now I must get busy with boring work related projects but I hope you all have a great Friday and I leave you with this precious face that melts my heart......

Ride Boldly Ride!

Yesterday, while I was cleaning one of my all time favorite movies was on...

I had to stop and watch it again. This to me is John Wayne at his best.

"Mitchum was memorably paired with John Wayne in El Dorado, with the Duke playing a gun for hire who comes to the aid of broken-down sheriff Mitchum. Seems Mitchum, once a handy man with a gun, is now the laughingstock of the town because he's taken to drink over a woman who left him. Of course, you never see the woman in question. At film's end, Wayne is on his way to the local madam and Mitchum is left on his own, but it's the friendship between the two men which matters. How else could it be in a Howard Hawks film? Newcomer James Caan plays the knife-throwing Mississippi, capably filling the need for a sexy younger man. Don't miss the bath scene with Mitchum finally cleaning up, and everyone in town dropping by to bring him a bar of soap."

If you haven't seen this, rent it, settle back and enjoy. You'll fall in love with the
newcomer
, James Caan!

In sunshine and In shadow
I journeyed long
Singing a song
In search of ElDorado
Over the mountains of the moon
Ride Boldy Ride
In search of ElDorado.

Finally!!!

Yes, it has been a busy day and Finally I can tell you about last night!!! I intended to give you the full blown story about Christmas shopping, lunch, etc. but let's just get to the important part of the day.....

I arrived at 4:30 for the 6:00 signing. After shopping all day, I decided to go to Wal Mart, browse until the crowd arrived and get in line. The line was already in place so of course, I fell right in. In minutes the line began to grow....across the front of the store, turned toward the back and I don't know where it ended.

She breezed in with a laugh, calling for hair and makeup...and the crowd was elated.
Ree took her seat and the process began; she took the time to stop, chat, sign books and take a photo with each and every person who had a camera. I thought that was very kind and speaks volumes for her character. She really is a sweetie.

I failed to get a picture that I would share with you of PW and myself...had my eyes closed in one and the other, well I wouldn't show it to anyone!!! I couldn't stop the flow of hundreds of anxious women with arms loaded with books to be signed...even though I wanted to. I did manage to capture Ree in all of the confusion,

The line moved from PW straight to Marlboro Man, Yes he came too, but not wearing chaps/ha. He stood so calmly by her side with a nice hello for everyone...After a short time he was swept into the line and began signing one of his many photos in the book that is dedicated to him, so lovingly.

I think to call this book a cookbook is misleading...it is so much more than a cookbook. The picture are gorgeous, the stories are so funny and entertaining, (typical Pioneer Woman style). Of course the recipes are all to die for but it is just so much more than a cookbook. I couldn't put it down last night and finally finished reading it today. If you don't already have "The Pioneer Woman Cooks", recipes from an accidental country girl, go get it! I give the book "10" and the signing "10".

It was fun and I hope you all get the opportunity to see Pioneer Woman! She's Real!

Pioneer Woman comes to town!!!!

Yippee I can hardly wait. Monday at 6:00 PM I will be in line to have my very own copy of "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" autographed by the first blogger I fell in love with. I was hooked on Pioneer Woman from the first bite of her lasagna....If you haven't tried it you really must. I love every recipe of PW's that I have made. I mean I can't say that about anyone else or any cookbook. And to think, I get to meet her tomorrow!!!! She is on a book signing tour so check her schedule here, she might be coming to a city near you!!!

Last week I was flipping through my new Southern Living and Ree has six amazing pages dedicated to her:

If you don't subscribe to So. Living and would like to see this great section click here

If you are in Little Rock, Arkansas tomorrow, I hope to see you at Wal Mart on Cantrell Road at 6 PM.

Flies!!!

I made a mess!! Yes, I made a big mess, but I got the job done!!!
Somewhere in our house there is a hole/crack that the flies have found and are obviously breeding. The warm weather brought them out and my windows in the den were just covered this week.. I couldn't stand it, couldn't get up there with fly swat to wage a little attack, didn't have any fly spray BUT I found this spray in the cabinet and proceeded to spray (guess I should say jet spray) the windows.

Not a pretty sight!!! Yes it dried just as you see it now!!!
There are still a couple of stragglers flying around but I have swept and vacuumed many! Now I need the extension ladder and my husband to clean the windows...hope that stuff comes off!

I searched this morning for the recipe for vinegar and water to clean the windows. I have tried before with no luck,,,still have streaks and found this great site,
Tried this recipe on the lower windows that I can reach and it did a wonderful job, no streaks at all. The secret is 1/2 tsp. liquid soap in the mixture!!!
Clean as a whistle!!! Now if I could just find that hole...

Have a great Saturday all!

Before and After!

I do love having trees, lots of trees, but with that comes the leaves.....I use to rake, pile, burn, all day but now I mow for a couple of hours and voila.....nice finely chopped mulch on the grass...

Nice to see green again, Oh how I love green grass, wish I could have it year round!

Has the full moon been keeping you awake at night? It has me, I was reading at 3 AM this morning. I hate not being able to sleep. I tried for 2 hours and finally got up, it is fun to have a good book on those nights. I'm reading There's No Place Like Here by Cecelia Ahern, author of PS, I Love You (which I loved) This one started out strange but is getting more interesting with every page. I have a feeling I won't be reading tonight/ha Hope to sleep!!!!

Have a good evening all!

Strange Feelings!

Another day of 70 degrees and I have this strange feeling of something similar to spring fever. I feel the need to mop the floors!!!! Oh My! My question to you;
Is there any better mop than a good old rag mop? If there is I have yet to find it. The sponge mop drives me crazy when the squeezer thing breaks off and the swiffer is just for small jobs.....what mop do you use???? I'd love to know.
OK back to work.....

Have a great day.

Enchiladas Verdes

From Taste Of Home magazine, April/May 2009.

These enchiladas are easy to make ahead and refrigerate until you're ready to bake. after quickly cooking tortillas in hot oil, I layer them between paper towels to soak up excess oil.

1 lb. lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 tsp salt
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
8 oz. velveeta, cubed
3/4 cup evaporated milk
4 oz. chopped green chilies, drained
2 oz. diced pimientos, drained
8 corn tortillas
1/4 cup oil

In a large skillet, cook the beef, onion, garlic and salt over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in cheddar cheese; set aside.

In a large saucepan, cook and stir the soup, velveeta and milk over medium heat until cheese is melted. Stir in chilies and pimientos.

In a large skillet, fry tortillas, one at a time, in oil for 5 seconds on each side or until golden. Drain. Place 1/4 cup of reserved meat mixture down the center of each tortilla. roll up and place seam side down in greased 13 x 9 in. baking dish. Pour cheese sauce over the top. Cover and bake at 350 deg for 25 - 30 minutes or until heated through.

Enjoy....The combination of velveeta and evaporated milk is oh so creamy and rich....
I took the cover off after 30 minutes and continued to cook, I like to see the cheese bubble but it made the bottom of tortillas somewhat tough. No problem, still very good but don't overcook...

I recommend this recipe folks, it's a keeper.

Have a good evening!

Two Favorites

I bought this tea on my shopping adventure at Central Market in Dallas and fell in love with the flavor.

Then I bought Simply Apple and warmed a cup for my tea bag and WOW, the flavor is so Fall/ha I love all of the flavors of Simply Juices, plus no sugar added!

My sis in law use to make the best hot cider tea for our family Christmas gatherings. She added all sorts of ingredients and brought them to a boil, and now I can have the same great flavor with one cup and one bag....oh the simple life!

While we are on the subject of tea; have you tried Paula Deen's recipe for sweet tea? I mean who needs a recipe for sweet tea??? Well I tried Paula's and it is just the most perfect tea (I do adjust the amount of sugar) Paula's:
7 tea bags
1 cup sugar
Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a kettle (or pan at my house) Add the tea bags and turn off the heat immediately. Place the lid on the pan and allow the tea to steep for 1 hour. Remove the tea bags and pour the tea into a pitcher. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. Add 4 cups cold water. Serve over ice with a sprig of mint and a lemon wedge.

I also love The Republic of Tea, Pomegranate Green Tea flavor; so I substitute one or 2 of this flavor with the 7 in Paula's recipe.....it turns out so good....just a mild pomegrante flavor.

Is there anything Paula cannot do??????

AND I started this post at 9:00 AM, then interruptions started....it is now 7:40 PM and I think I am ready to Publish this one/ha

Have a good evening all!
