Fact or Fiction?

Full Moons are traditionally associated with temporal insomnia, insanity (hence the terms lunacy and lunatic) and various "magical phenomena" such as lycanthropy. Psychologists, however, have found that there is no strong evidence for effects on human behavior around the time of a full moon........

Therefore it is just a coincidence that I didn't sleep last night....

I can only toss and turn for so many hours then I get up.....4:00 am today! I have cleaned the cooktop and filter, browsed cook books, had my limit of coffee, went outdoors and snapped a few pictures, boiled eggs for potato salad, made hubby ham and egg sandwich, blah, blah, blah; you get the picture!

Do you notice sleepless nights when moon is full?

Looks like today is going to be a beautiful day; now if I can only stay awake and enjoy it!!!

Nanny, I work in the psychiatric field...let me tell you that MANY people are sleepless at the full moon and MANY DO get the crazies too! ;)

NEVER a dull moment when the moon is full! In the ER, in the office, etc.
Sounds like you used your insomnia for GREAT productivity!
Hope you can have a lil nap today!

Yes, and here lately I've been dreaming like crazy. It must be the moon! Melatonin helps me if I really get out of whack, I think it's a mineral..anyway my gyn actually told me about it. I take only until I'm back in a pattern of good sleep again.

I think there is something to that full moon/restless nights connection. I didn't sleep much last night either and I'm thanking the Lord for COFFEE today! :-) Just saw your comment and I did watch Biggest Loser last night. When that overweight teenage girl got up in front of all her classmates and told Jillian that no one ever thought she could do anything and then told her how the other kids made fun of her, I LOST it! We're talking- tears streaming like someone left the faucet on! That show gets me every time!

Nanny-We always know there's a full moon at work because it seems to induce labor!!! We're always busy on a full moon night.

Hi Nanny, Maybe that is why I have always heard that babies are either conceived on those nights---or that they are born when there's a full moon!!!!! That would either enhance the restlessness or make it worse... ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Oh rats
I missed the full moon.
From my house you just don't see it and have to make plans to be in a spot where it is easy to view....I love it. Looks like several comments say they believe it does indeed cause problems (o:
Not sleep
hey...that is way to common for me. Someone mentioned Melatonin. I think that makes me have crazy dreams...oh well.

Nanny, I slept like a rock last night. But, I'm with Jill... there is a lot of restlessness and craziness in health care during the full moons! ERs, ORs and Delivery Rooms are hoppin'! Hope you sleep well tonight.

Since I keep my blinds closed I don't know when there's a full moon but I do know that lots of light doesn't help me sleep so maybe that's the issue...too much light! blessings, marlene
