Welcome to The Rock

Hubby just got back from a hunting trip in Colorado. Just north of Gunnison in the mountains they set up camp!

After a weekend of weather in the 60's the snow fell turning the campsite into a wonderland. (that's my term, not his/ha) He said if it was 19 degrees outside, it was 19 degrees inside the popup! Burrr, was there not a Hilton around?

I think it was beautiful but am also glad I was at home in a warm bed.

This is the spot he sat and sat and sat waiting and hoping that the monster elk would emerge from the trees or on the ridge. Smart elk never came out. The moon was full when the season opened and that ended daylight feeding.....So is the life of a hunter!

With views like this I could have gotten lost in relaxation! And making many, many pictures! He asked if he could take my camera......I let him have my Canon PowerShot point and shoot. I am always amazed at the quality pictures this camera captures.

He calls this one "The Rock" They each walked out on the edge (after much coaxing) to have their picture made!

This is the view below from The Rock.....wooo hold on! Makes me dizzy!

One of the guys spent extra time there alone. He lost his dad just days before this trip and my heart breaks looking at him in this picture. I just feel his sadness. The view in itself is breathtaking and I could soak that in for days. It has a feel to me of being on top of the world.

This one is my favorite....my always happy, always on top of the world husband!

I got a promise that next summer I get to go to Colorado....yipeee, I've never been and can't wait! I'm not sure you will see me on "The Rock"!
Have a good evening all

Nanny, it looks like hubby had a WONDERFUL, if cold, trip. Even without the giant elk, being in nature like that is a gift. I know you will enjoy it when you go!!

Shhhhh.... June 11, 2011 ;)

Those are some really breathtaking photos. It's a shame that photos NEVER do that type of landscape justice, but you can at least get some idea of the beauty.

BTW, I tried Pioneer Woman's number 4 cinnamon toast. I wasn't all that impressed. I'm going to stick with my number 1. I like the semi-soggy bread you get from putting butter directly on the bread and sprinkling sugar and cinnamon and then going directly to the broiler. =) Yum. Let the cravings begin - ha!

Amazing photos! I lived in Colorado for a while in the seventies. It is really a beautiful state, but it can snow in the mountains, October-May. Too cold for my Southern blood. lol Summers are nice, though.

We've hiked in the Colorado Rockies and loved the spectacular vistas. Gorgeous photos. I bet hubby's friend will treasure his pic in the future- so poignant.
