P.F. Chang's Home Menu

And it is sooo good!
I usually won't try frozen meals in a bag....but this one caught my attention and I was tempted. So I bought it!

I love P.F. Chang's and the nearest one is an hour away....

Here it is as I warmed it

Looks good uh?

The flavor was excellent!

I also had these two Tai Pei products with it, just in case it was a failure.

The Pepper Beef was delicious, as were the Egg Rolls!

I didn't microwave these...I always use oven or stovetop over microwave. I just think it tastes better.

The meal was a hit and I can't wait to have it all again.

Just add your favorite sauce and let your taste buds be the judge.....

Chang's has other combinations of the Home Menu frozen meals...I'll bet they are all good. Let me know if you try one!

Macro Monday - Violet

This lovely violet is at least 15 years old. Given to me on mother's day. A small amount of miracle grow in the water and it just bursts with blooms. I keep it in the window over my sink. Always seems to be smiling at me!

Macro Monday

Have a great Monday!

Brown and Dead!

I made the comment to a fellow blogger that I haven't mowed my yard since the first week of July! Thought I would explain that comment. When I say "mow the yard" I actually mean the entire yard, complete with weed eating and riding lawnmower. I did mow the dead weeds last month because they were just ugly.

I found pictures taken the same week of August 2009 and 2010.
I have some bare spots around the trees that I struggle with, trying to get grass to grow...but 2009 was a wet year and the grass thrived (as did the weeds)

No mowing needed this year.....

My front yard is gone too. Usually at the end of November I mow the leaves! When it cools off I guess I will get on that project!

All of the leaves are turning and falling. Normally the trees don't look like this until after a hard frost.

I have one area that I have watered everyday. It is around the pool house. We had topsoil brought in and I planted Bermuda so I have pampered this area. I got the push mower out yesterday and gave it a trim....

I have sure missed my yard days this summer. They were the highlight of my week. Nothing prettier than a freshly mowed and trimmed yard (to me) Plus it is great exercise!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday!

Trophy and Award!

My husband won his first trophy and is he ever thrilled! He was going to just look at the bikes at a recent show and got persuaded to enter his and he won!!! He doesn't have time to ride very often but he stops by and talks to her and tells her he misses her.............

Last week I was honored to receive the "Life is Good Award" from my friend, Marguerite of Cajun Delights. If you are looking for good cajun recipes and some delightful recipes handed down from Marguerite's Nanny, you must give her a visit. She keeps us informed of all of the festivals and fun going on in Cajun Country! Tell her Nanny sent you!

To accept this award, I must answer the 10 questions below and pass the award on to fellow bloggers.

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing it that way; if you are not anonymous do you wish you had started out anonymously so you could be anonymous now? I decided to just be Nanny and keep the rest relatively private.

2. Describe one incident that shows your inner stubborn side. I was born in May...it would be hard to limit it to just one / ha

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the face in the mirror? I see a happy person looking back at me and wondering how the years went by so fast.

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink? Ice water with lemon or a Margarita on the rocks (maybe not in that order)

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do? Easy, Go Shopping !

6. Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life? Nothing springs to my mind...I do wish I could learn to sit and relax and not feel the need to be working or cleaning all of the time.

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the class shy person, or always ditching school? Describe who you were if not one of these? I wouldn't call myself an overachiever; I tried hard, made good grades but the citizenship part I couldn't grasp....Notes to parents; "talks too much", "if only she would be quiet".....lol

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what do you see? The birth of my daughters and grandchildren!

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events? Other people, events, foods, etc.....

10. If you had the choice to sit and read or talk on the phone, which would you do and why? The only phone conversations I have are with my daughters; other than those I would choose to read!

Now can I claim this perfect button?

I love it!

So many of you don't accept awards but please take the button and if you'd like to answer the questions please do so!!! I think everyone should have this one...for

Good Friday Morning!

How do you start your morning? Mine doesn't begin until the coffee is in my cup!!!
My new flavor is creme brulee....it is so yummy! I fully expect Nestle to discontinue the flavor, cause every time I get hooked on one....it's gone! Please Nestle, don't do it to me!

Have a good Friday, all. I am running behind this morning so I'd better get up and do something productive.....ugh!

Playing Possum

The word "Bath" makes Trixie fall to the ground and go to sleep....yea right! This girl is good at pretending! When I apply Advantix to her back, she isn't supposed to have a bath for 2 - 3 days. She immediately went outside after I put it on and I told her not to go to the pond and get dirty, but did she listen to me? No.......I saw her come back, went outside and said, "Now look at you, you are dirty and need a bath". She fell out on the ground.....I'm asleep, see, I can't have a bath.

Please just let me sleep...It's so hot and I am so tired...just a short nap!

She is so funny! That's my girl!

A Good Night For Carryout

Yesterday I felt the need to hit the malls and Target in Little Rock. I mean they must have fall clothes out by now.I wasn't disappointed in the least....lots and lots of cute fall pants and blouses...No, I didn't buy any jeggins, although they were in every store!!After a full day of running, I didn't want to cook supper but I knew I would be passing a popular BBQ place on the way home...yes, carryout will work!

Ribs, slaw and potato salad to go please..

You might have seen The Mean Pig BBQ featured on Man vs Food recently. "Adam attempts to devour a super spicy pulled pork sandwich known as the Shut-Up Juice Challenge". Mean pig has four flavors of sauce; mild, medium, hot and shut-up!!! We had mild/ha
Adam completed the challenge by drinking milk (yuck) along with the shut-up juice, but he was sweating! And for all of his suffering he won "A T-Shirt"!

I told the owner I saw the show recently and he said he can always tell when it has been on based on the number of calls he receives for orders. He has an order ready to ship to Scotland and one to the UK....wow. I asked him how he ships food that far. He freezes it and packs it in dry ice! It reminded me of the Mash episode when Hawkeye was trying to order ribs from Adam's Rib in Chicago...it was so funny!

Mean Pig is close to the Jacksonville Air Base and many of his customers are in the military. He said when they get transferred they always take food with them...hence the orders from other countries.

If you are ever in the Little Rock area, check out The Mean Pig for some finger licking good BBQ.

Throwdown!

Do you watch Bobby Flay's Throwdown? I love that show.

One night last week he made Huevos Rancheros and I couldn't be satisfied until I had one on my plate. I have never made them but think of trying often. I started my search for a good recipe on The Pioneer Woman's Tasty Kitchen site...I mean if you can't find what you are looking for there, it doesn't exist. I found two good looking recipes and kinda combined the ingredients that I had on hand to form a recipe of my own.

The flavor was perfect and satisfied my craving (for the time being).
This is going to become a regular at my house.

I fried corn tortillas for just seconds on each side.
Spread refried beans on tortillas, then sprinkled with shredded cheddar.
Heat salsa (I used store bought).
When salsa is hot and coming to a boil, break eggs in a salsa, cover and let cook until desired doneness. Kind of like poaching an egg in salsa. I let my yellow get a little too done...it didn't run like I like it to do. Spoon eggs and salsa on tortilla, add more cheese and top with cilantro....yum, yum!

This even got a good review from the resident critic...only request was to add some meat of some sort!! ugh.

Tonight is the finale for The Next Foodnetwork Star! Who do you want to win? My favorite, Brad is gone....but I still like Herb and Tom. I think the judges have been for Aarti since day one...they have had several opportunities to send her packing but never do. It's a great show and fun to watch the competitions. The pressure would make me pack my knives and go home from the very beginning/ha

Eat, Pray, Love

How could it not be a wonderful movie when Julia Roberts is the star!!!
I have anxiously waited for this one to be released and I was there when the doors opended for the 1:45 matinee yesterday.. It was the fastest 2 hours I have had in a longtime. I just wanted it to start all over. You could hear a pin drop in the theater thru the entire movie.

The scenery was magnificent. The food was beautiful... The book was set to life in one of the best transformations I have seen.

Put this one on your agenda for the weekend.

Did I tell you how much I love Eat, Pray, Love?

Life in the Country!

Today seemed to be the day for wildlife...
Everyday there seems to be more geese than the day before!!! They are coming closer and closer to the house.....I am not sure that is a good thing. If you have every been around geese you know the mess they make...

The deer came out of the woods for a drink.....

Aren't they sweet?

After quenching their thrist, they scampered over the levee. See the mom looking back at me? She could hear me snapping shots of them....always a watchful eye.

The water level was to the top of the levee....until summer ...!

One summer it looked like a puddle instead of a pond and would you believe the catfish survived? Poor things!

Hang in there guys....fall....and rain will be here soon (hopefully)

Let's Make A Boat

Not the kind that floats on water....but the melt in your mouth sandwich kind!
Start with a loaf of french bread of your choice..
Slice a thin layer off the top..
Scoop out the insides of the loaf and save for later...

Line the insides with your favorite cheese....I chose sharp cheddar...

Brown one pound of ground beef (I added small amount of sausage) with bell pepper and onion...

Drain and add a can of Campbell's Nacho Cheese Soup with meat mixture and reserved crumbled bread from loaf...

Spoon into french bread loaf...

Add another layer of shredded cheese, place top of bread back on...

Cover with foil....bake at 350 until warmed...approximately 20 minutes....slice and enjoy....
Now that's a boat!
