11-1-11

Yesterday was a perfect fall day.
Bright sunshine and 70 degrees.
I decided to pack up the camera and travel back roads in search of fall foliage.
This road beckoned me.......

leaves 061

The sun was shining through the leaves, making them appear fluorescent

It was so much fun but disappointing too.  Do you find that
pictures are so wonderful on the camera but loose the
"pop" after uploading to computer?
Suggestions, anyone?
New lens, mabye??
I realize I broke the cardinal rule of shooting with sun overhead,
But I love sun shining through the trees.

I got a real eye opener when I drove down my driveway:

leaves 010

The leaves in my own yard were as pretty as any I found.
The sun was a spotlight on this tree saying, "look at me"

This tree is visibile from my bedroom window......
It's hard to get anything done except sit and stare

leaves 007

The color will soon be gone, the leaves are falling.....
Maybe I'll go out and pursue the perfect shot today!
Have a great day all

Oh, how I envy you! We in Hawaii don't see such foliage.

Wow, such beautiful Fall foliage! Your pics are gorgeous, but if you wanted to enhance them, Picnik has a great photo editor in your Picassa Web Album. Our trees are still green, here.

Gorgeous. I hope the colors are pretty in NWA this weekend! You have some perfect trees for fall pictures, that's for sure.

Oh, those are beautiful, Nanny!! I love the way you noted the 'lesson' of the beautiful trees in your own back yard... a lesson we all need to remember. The full sun just washes out the colors... but, wouldn't trade it for the world!! Beautiful day shown in your beautiful photos!! blessings ~ tanna

So lovely! That road is amazing! Play around with the saturation and color temperature in your photo editing. Also, if I add more shadow, I get that pop back that is there when you are looking live at the trees. Still I think you are right..many times I photograph the changing colors and the photos just don't do them justice!

Ours came to an abrupt end last Wednesday when 12 inches of heavy wet snow dumped on us. Looked like a war zone with all the downed branches. Guess what...it is suppose to do it again tonight.
I don't do tweets or twitters....however I do toot occasionally (o:

Thanks Nanny for your kind comments, and if we did live close by I would be honored to show you some tips to capture shots like mine.....it's all in the Light, I find and setting your exposures properly....it takes some experimetation and patience, but I also give my equipment some credit. Good glass and quality cameras do the trick. Great Fall shots, our leaves are long gone, just the Tamaracks with their Golden needles left now and a few brown Oak leaves.

These are glorious photos. I just popped by from Gigi's place. You say you're longing for Hawaii and I'm longing to be back in Illinois. Sighhhh...
